The Gorman Foundation is a family foundation in upstate New York. It was established in January 2003 with a bequest from Alice M. Gorman who passed away from breast cancer in June 2002.

If you believe your project or organization meets our guidelines, we invite you to apply for a grant as follows:
1) Letter of inquiry
The first step in submitting an application is to send a letter of not more than two pages that describes the following:
- Your organization and its experience in the field;
- What you propose to do, why the project is needed, how it will be carried out, who will be served and where, how you will evaluate success, and how your project or program relates to our areas of emphasis;
- The amount and terms of the grant request, how the funds would be used, the amount of the total project or program budget, and other sources of funds;
- Your IRS determination letter acknowledging your 501(c)(3) status.
- If your request is for $5,000 or less, a letter of inquiry serves as a full proposal application.

life for present and future generations.

The Gorman Foundation exists to help better society through support of educational, scientific, artistic and religious causes, organizations and programs.

We award project and general-support grants to nonprofit, IRS 501(c)(3) organizations. Examples include but are not limited to:
Community Needs/Religion
- Churches or community-related organizations reaching to serve the spiritual, material, or social welfare needs of their communities.
- Healthcare/Breast Cancer Prevention
- Programs that help people access affordable healthcare with a special interest in breast cancer-related services.
- Education
- Schools, colleges and related organizations serving the needs of students and communities.
- Health education and physical fitness programs and projects aimed at children and families.
- Legacy projects such as the preservation of historical monuments, landmarks and other historical points of interest.
- The Arts
- Museums, workshops and other organizations concentrating on the study of art.
- The performing arts including: ballet, opera, and community orchestras as well as children’s music programs and other related organizations.
Science & The Environment
- Environmental rehabilitation, agricultural projects, wildlife protection and animal shelters..
